GUIDE & SAFETY
Your guide & your safety
- Certified WFR (NOLS Wilderness Medicine)
- Warden on the Fimmvörðuháls trail
- Two guides + satellite comms on highland routes
- Direct line to Iceland's search & rescue
Every Soulhike is guided by Elsebeth Molberg Thing — a certified Wilderness First Responder (WFR) through NOLS' 10-day Wilderness Medicine course, and a working warden on the Fimmvörðuháls trail, one of Iceland's most beautiful and demanding routes.
On the highland hikes we always walk with two guides — one in front, one at the back — so no one is ever out there alone. We carry satellite-connected radios with a direct line to Björgunarsveitin (Iceland's volunteer search & rescue), and the fully-stocked NOLS-recommended first-aid kit plus spare layers.
Before we set off, we ask you to sign a participant waiver so insurance is squared away. All of it exists for one reason: so you can safely let go, be present, and let the landscape do its work.
