The journey

The Solar Eclipse Soul Journey is a five-day guided hiking and camping trip through West Iceland, planned around the total solar eclipse on 12 August 2026.

You travel from Þingvellir, Geysir and Gullfoss to the Glymur waterfall and the Hvammsvík hot springs, then west to Arnarstapi on Snæfellsnes to stand in the path of totality. The group is small (max 8). Meals are not included.

THE TRAIL

Day by day

  1. Day 1 — Þingvellir

    Arrival and the rift valley of Þingvellir National Park.

  2. Day 2 — Geysir & Gullfoss

    The Geysir hot springs and the Gullfoss waterfall.

  3. Day 3 — Glymur & Hvammsvík

    The Glymur waterfall hike and the Hvammsvík hot springs.

  4. Day 4 — Totality at Snæfellsnes

    West to Arnarstapi on Snæfellsnes for the total solar eclipse.

  5. Day 5 — Snæfellsnes & return

    The Snæfellsnes peninsula before the journey home.

Every Soulhike is led by Elsebeth Molberg Thing — a certified Wilderness First Responder (NOLS Wilderness Medicine) and a warden on the Fimmvörðuháls trail. On the highland hikes we walk with two guides carrying satellite-connected radios and a direct line to Björgunarsveitin (Iceland's volunteer search & rescue), so you can safely let go and be present.
